Montmartre Flyer Art June 7, 2008 Here's a recent flyer I made for an upcoming show I have with my band Lorenzo's Music using GIMP . I've been busy working on another art project and didn't have much time. So Instead of my usual inked character drawing style I opted for a traced photo effect I made from of an old hotel sign I had found on Roadsidepictures Flickr stream. Then I created a 2 new layers underneath. On one I filled with a mesh pattern in black and white and set the layer setting to "screen" so it would lighten to layers under it. And the one under that I filled with yellow. Next I created a layer for the text on top and set the layer as multiply so the line art of the sign would show through. Then I used a textured eraser on different areas of the text to give it a worn look. But I wanted to make sure the text wouldn't be buried in the background image.
