aPen Doodles

Image
So I got this aPen clip from Woot! for like 12 bucks. It's a little digital device that clips onto the page you're drawing on and saves what you draw on the page. You can connect it to your computer to download an image file of it later. Seemed like a neat idea right? And for $12 I thought, what the hell. Well the device doesn't really stay still and that makes it so the lines don't match up exactly as you go along. Now you would think this to be a huge annoyance, but to tell you the truth, I think it kinda does some interesting things. Here are just some doodles testing it out that I think added some character to what I was sketching. Sketch 1 Sketch 2

Dog Pooped sketch

Just a sketch I did while I was on the phone. Typical situation, dog pooped and peed and son pretends not to see it and asks to go play. Pentel Sharp Kerry" Mechanical Pencil - Pencils

Angry 50's thug or my attempt at a Darwyn Cooke style drawing

Another sketch I drew on my phone. Wanted to try a Darwyn Cooke style drawing. I feel like it's a bit stiff but I like how the hair turned out.

I'm slowly working on the new comic/cartoon idea that I have. Here are some character face expressions sketches for one of them I'm messing around with.

Storybook Style Art Project pt. 1

Image
Recently I was asked to create the artwork an advertising music publishing house's website. They wanted the artwork to have the look and feel of a vintage children's storybook. The concept was-- two boys climbing into a pillow fort they made in their living room, which will lead them into an imaginary music land type setting. So for the first part, after several sketches, this was the one that was chosen. After the character sketches were sent, the main boy was chosen from this sketch. I did some clean up work on the pencils and scanned it into GIMP. Then cut it out to look like it was a drawing that was clipped with scissors so later it could be put on top of the art to give it the effect that it's being used to play with like colorforms toys back in the day. In the original concept sketch the other boy was crawling into the fort and they felt it didn't get the idea across that he was doing that. So I decided to draw the other boy like he was sticking his head o...
